It is no joke. Murdocks will be releasing a new album "Roar" on April 1, 2008, three years after the previous release "Surrenderender". Murdocks, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Franklin Morris and two newly inducted members, bassist Kyle Robarge and drummer David T. Jones, has shared the stage with various bands such as My Chemical Romance, and What Made Milwaukee Famous.

Now you're probably wondering, If they have played with all these familiar names, why haven't we heard of them before? Good question. Unfortunately, after hearing this album, this question will still remain unanswered. These guys have perfected the art of catchy tunes so that it's still a wonder more people do not appreciate them.

This six-song EP features a sampling of various song styles from The Strokes-influenced "Die Together" to the final ballad "Boy". My personal favorite, "Old Xylophone," draws attention to that cutesy instrument and brings me back to those nostalgic school days of playing the xylophone in my fourth grade music class.

"Roar" (released by Surprise Truck Entertainment) is a great first album for those beginner music fans trying to ease their way into the indie music scene. Morris' voice gives the candy-coated rock songs the grittiness that disconnects the band from entering the pop-rock genre. Whether you are a music snob or a music noob, "Roar" has you covered. From the intricate arrangements to super catchy goodness, there is really something for everyone.

"Roar" is now available for pre-orders at Amazon.com and the album will be available on iTunes in the near future.
